Going green is a growing concept these days. It is a process of healing our Mother Earth from all the damages that has been caused to her. It is imperative that all governments create and implement rules and regulations regarding the idea of going green. However, it should all start in every home in any part of the world – a green home that every person builds to live in.
In constructing a green home, here are some tips that you can use.
- Whenever possible, use natural sources of lighting like outdoor light from the sun. If not possible, use energy-efficient lighting. Use compact fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs because using
fluorescent bulbs can save energy and also save money.
- Use modern appliances that are especially designed to save energy such as LCD monitors compared with CRT monitors. Although LCD monitors are a bit expensive that CRT monitors, they are built to perform under
lower operating costs with longer product life.
- Plant a garden in your backyard or even in small pots. Plants are good carbon sinks which ensures that carbon dioxide does not excessively exist in the air and they are good producers of oxygen which is a very
essential necessity that every human need in order to live.
- Practice “reduce, reuse and recycle” in your daily routines. These three practical concepts are powerful if everyone can incorporate them in everyday life. Reduce your use of energy and essential resources
for insignificant activities. Reuse things that are still functional and have value instead of buying new ones. And recycle materials like plastics, paper, glass and metal that can be made into other functional material. Creating a compost pit in your backyard is also under the concept of recycling.
